We wish to recruit a skilled and motivated graduate to lead and deliver a project that will develop the next generation of a product packaging system designed for intravenous drug delivery systems for Terumo BCT.

The proposed product is a high performance, environmentally friendly drug container with the capability to extend the product shelf life of pharmaceutical products, reduce waste and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Main Activities and Responsibilities:
Through the KTP programme we wish to recruit a graduate to work in Terumo BCT Ltd (in Larne, Co. Antrim) on a collaborative project with the School of Pharmacy at Queen’s over 24 months.
The Terumo Group is a healthcare company with business divisions in hospital disposables, cardiac & vascular, and blood management. The Larne facility is part of the Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies (Terumo BCT) division, who are a global leader in blood component, therapeutic apheresis and cellular technologies. Our products enable customers to collect and prepare blood and cells to help treat challenging diseases and conditions. The Larne site has 40 years of experience in the manufacture of intravenous (IV) solutions marketed all over the world. The products span a broad range of therapy areas including traditional intravenous (IV)
therapies used in fluid replacement, epidurals, heart surgeries, antibiotics, anticoagulants used in blood technologies, blood component storage solutions and perfusion therapy solutions.

Please note the start date for this role is flexible.

The KTP Associate will lead on the delivery of the following key project stages:
1. Review existing product range
2. Processing polymeric films and characterisation of their mechanical properties / resistance of water & gas diffusion
3. Multi-Layer Extrusion
4. Manufacture of prototype containers for marketing purposes and for inclusion within stability studies
5. Accelerated stability & establishing key performance indicating tests
6. Product Commercialisation.

Hold at least a 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent classification) in Mechanical, Process or Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
