Job description

This is an exciting collaboration between London Met and Mahogany to support the internationalisation of Mahogany, a fast-growing, independent digital music and production business, as the industry evolves. You’ll be supported by experienced academics and Mahogany’s team of experts.

The aim of the KTP is to design and implement a best-in-class, strategic and managerial infrastructure to professionalise and scale Mahogany into a renowned global brand, competing with names such as Universal Music and Platoon.ai, whilst maintaining their passionate authenticity.

You must be experienced in the creative and/or media sector with a passion for music. Identifying new global opportunities, acting as a credible ambassador, and building stakeholder relationships are key.

Key objectives:

– leveraging the current business model to maximise cross-selling opportunities
– identifying new commercial markets and/or opportunities that in turn increase sales and drive brand awareness globally
– benchmarking against comparable brands to identify best practice management techniques
– ensuring the globalisation strategy is fit-for-purpose, sets realistic KPIs, and is achievable alongside business-as-usual.
– planning for future growth opportunities, including Web 3.0 and AI

Project description

Planning/Project Management/Specialist knowledge

● analyse data to benchmark against comparable brands (e.g., Virgin) and industry competitors (e.g., Universal Music, Platoon.ai) to identify best practice management techniques and marketing models such as life cycle customer retention to professionalise operations and increase effectiveness
● refine the KTP workplan to ensure it is fit for current business priorities and will deliver required results
● effectively manage the delivery of the KTP project, liaising with all stakeholders as required and producing reporting documents for Local Management Committee meetings
● monitor project expenditure according to budget

Analysis / Strategy Development

● analyse industry trends to inform globalisation strategy
● spot opportunities and make considered recommendations on viability of new markets/verticals
● interpret and present statistical information to generate clear, insightful analyses from data
● ensure the globalisation strategy is fit-for-purpose, sets realistic KPIs, and is achievable alongside business-as-usual
● identify new global markets e.g., India to create content and distribution channels, increasing sales and driving brand awareness globally whilst maintaining brand integrity
● work with international stakeholders to ensure buy-in to globalisation strategy
● negotiate with partners to deliver globalisation plan

Marketing / Communication / Networking

● leverage the two current audiences (B2B and consumers via third party distribution) to maximise cross-selling opportunities
● collaborate with colleagues across the business to ensure marketing opportunities are identified, are targeted to the audience and meet business requirements to support scaling
● ensure brand integrity is maintained as company scales
● present regular reports, updates, and case studies to company to transfer knowledge and embed within the organisation
● produce clear audience appropriate digital content to support marketing activities
● work with colleagues across the business and academic supervisory team to inform decision-making

Training Delivery

● develop capabilities of the leadership team to enable them to successfully navigate rapid growth – organise coaching and development workshops with the support of the academic team
● contribute to knowledge transfer activities at the university (journal papers, deliver seminars)
● attend industry or academic conferences to disseminate knowledge Decision Making / Process Development/Problem Solving
● plan for future growth opportunities, including Web 3.0 and AI, futureproofing Mahogany ● embed new processes across business to ensure knowledge transfer
● identify and mitigate and risks to successfully completing the project and in the post-project plan
● keep an accurate and up to date risk register
