Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available to work on a 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Exeter and JockeyCam Ltd. The KTP will develop new methods to capture and analyse data on horse and athlete movement in horseracing and other sports. The successful candidate will be employed by the University of Exeter and will be based at JockeyCam’s premises in Chepstow, Wales.

Project description

This project aims to create a new sensor integration and analysis capability within JockeyCam based on Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs). This will facilitate an industry leading, data-driven approach to improve jockey and horse health, welfare, and performance and provide an enhanced, state of the art, real-time entertainment experience for fans.
The KTP associate will develop and embed within JockeyCam the ability to:
• Validate and refine the hardware for the collection of rich, large-scale data sets.
• Process and analyse large data sets.
• Transform this data into formats that are attractive to customers.
• Undertake analyses to draw conclusions from the data and make recommendations for the health and safety of riders and horses.
• Support regulators and stakeholders with the effective implementation of these recommendations.
