Project description

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are one of the leading causes of lost workdays around the world, and one of the highest costs to the NHS. The monitoring, detection, and early intervention to prevent MSDs would be invaluable to employers protecting their workforce and an area of great interest around the world for research groups in biomechanics, ergonomics, and human factors.

This new and exciting collaboration between Casella Holdings Ltd and UoN offers the opportunity to carry out fieldwork and technology development, combining industry experience, customer feedback, biomechanical analysis, and ergonomic assessment to develop a new wearable sensor which can be used by workers during their everyday tasks. The developed sensor will monitor movement patterns to detect potentially high-risk tasks and possible MSD development.
