Job description

You will work between the University of Sheffield and Logically Ltd to develop software tools
that will enable efficient detection of misinformation in visual content exploiting artificial
intelligence. You will be based at the Logically Ltd site in Brighouse, working directly with the
Head of Data Science and Development team, receiving additional mentoring support from
expert university staff. You will be expected to take a lead role in the project, managing your
own workload and transfer knowledge from the University of Sheffield to Logically Ltd. You will
undertake research, design, development, and optimisation of software and will maintain
detailed design documentation. Occasional travel to conferences, exhibitions and customer sites
may be necessary. The post holder will be supported for training in the context of industrial
research and development and personal development. As part of the KTP role, a structured
training and development programme will be provided, which includes a personal development
budget and attending two one-week residential (currently online) training programmes at
Ashorne Hill, Leamington Spa as part of the KTP project. In addition, there is the possibility for
future employment with Logically Ltd upon the successful completion of the project.

Project description

As a KTP Associate, you will work on an exciting knowledge transfer partnership project on visual
content misinformation detection funded by the Innovate UK and Logically Ltd, an industry leader
in developing solutions for combatting fake media. You will bring together the world-leading
visual content security and AI expertise in the University of Sheffield with the specialised expertise
of Logically Ltd to develop software tools that will enable efficient detection of misinformation
in visual content exploiting artificial intelligence.
You will be expected to work independently where necessary but also be an integral part of the
team at Logically Ltd in Brighouse. You will be a highly motivated individual with good
understanding of AI and Deep Learning for visual media and misinformation detection, as well
as excellent programming and software engineering skills. You will be expected to take a lead
role in the project, manage your own workload and ensure a seamless technology transfer from
the University of Sheffield to Logically Ltd. The research knowledge transfer will be conducted
under the supervision of Dr Charith Abhayaratne and Dr Yoshi Gotoh. The post provides an ideal
opportunity to undertake cutting-edge research and development within a commercial context.
