A fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced AI/Computer Vision Engineer to work on an innovative project with Sheffield based business, Phasefocus Ltd, and the University of York.

This position is a 2-year fixed term contract as a KTP Associate, to deliver a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project.

The main purpose of the role is to utilise the application of novel AI approaches to enable feature classification and event identification in label-free live cell images, developing a framework that will ultimately enable the company to tackle a range of further feature classification problems, bringing it significantly closer to the aim of annotating the life of each cell in a population with information about key events.

To be successful in the role you will have;

● Knowledge of Machine Learning or Computer Vision.
● Practical experience with a modern deep learning frameworks and models.
● Skills in .Net stack, C#, Microsoft Visual Studio, OpenCV and ONNX.

Project description

The aim of the KTP is to build machine learning based image classification capabilities into the LiveCyte® cell analysis system. The addition of AI classifiers will move the company towards its strategic goal of providing the most powerful tool for characterising the dynamic behaviour of individual live cells on the market.

Phasefocus manufactures label-free, live cell time-lapse imaging and analysis systems, offering biologists a revolutionary new toolkit for gaining insights into cellular response and behaviour. The company’s products are based on a patented and award-winning computational imaging technology, called ptychography. Based primarily in Sheffield, UK, the company is a spin-out from Sheffield University and also boasts a dedicated LiveCyte® production facility in BioCity in Nottingham.

Computer Science

Computer Vision Engineering

A MSc degree in the area of Machine Learning or Computer Vision. Preferably you will have a PhD in Machine Learning or Computer Vision. Extensive practical experience in technical skills associate with machine learning or computer vision, including modern deep learning framework; Pytorch or Tensorflow. Problem solving and analytical skills using a range of specialist software. Experience with the .Net stack, or more specifically C#, Microsoft Visual Studio, OpenCV and ONNX.
