You will be at the centre of a project which seeks to create and embed
an agile, innovative and bespoke strategic marketing and change management
model to support business growth and diversification within Mercury3 – a
programme management consultancy, primarily specialising in the rail
sector.
Mercury3 was established in 2017, and offers core services in project
management, railway operations, engineering and asset management. This
includes specialist programme management solutions for large scale, complex
rail infrastructure projects. Mercury3 is an ambitious, successful business
enjoying a highly respected, credible and proficient reputation in their
sector. The project will facilitate them to scale by strengthening their
USP to develop strategic marketing opportunities in different sectors,
products and services. This will be underpinned by cultivating a
supportive, agile organisational culture to support this growth.
This exciting role is supported by academic experts from Leed Beckett
University’s Leeds Business School who will hep you develop and embed a
new business model, which will include strategic marketing, succession
planning and organisational change management. You will be based full-time
at the company premises and you will feel, to all intents and purposes,
part of the Mercury3 team.

Project description
This is a government funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership project that provides you with an invaluable opportunity to fast-track your career development and establish your position as an industry leader of tomorrow.
You will benefit from a management training programme and a substantial personal development budget of £4000 to help you develop your skills. There is also the opportunity to study for a higher degree (PhD or MRes) with fee waiver.
You will work alongside an engaged and forward-thinking leadership team at Mercury3 and a team of academics from Leeds Beckett University, gaining wide-ranging and senior-level experience.
The successful candidate will work with a highly engaged and motivated senior leadership team, with stakeholders across the business and have the support of an experienced multi-disciplinary academic team from Leeds Beckett University to:
1. Develop scalable value propositions for the market (new products and
services) to enable Mercury 3 to penetrate additional infrastructure
markets beyond rail.
2. Improve strategic capabilities to facilitate Mercury3 to penetrate the
supply chain as a Tier 1 /2 supplier.
3. Improve market intelligence and embed decision-making frameworks to
enable a more proactive and strategic approach to new contracts and
tenders.
4. Facilitate and optimise the existing infrastructure and team to support
diversification, a pro-active sales culture and optimising client services
and engagement.
5. Evaluate organisational culture, levels of employee engagement,
retention, development and
succession, ensuring that the business is positioned to develop and
maintain sustainable competitive advantage as it develops new products,
services and markets.
6. Embed new strategic marketing and decision-making capabilities, shifting
the business towards a more proactive, market-driven culture that will grow
turnover and profitability.
About the business
Mercury3 was established by three industry experts in 2017 who remain the company directors today. They are a project management consultancy, specialising in the rail sector, and hold an extensive portfolio of expert associates to deliver contracted services as required. Mercury3 deliver programme management solutions for large public and private sector clients and currently operate mainly as a Tier 3 contractor. Having driven impressive growth to date, Mercury3 is now poised to elevate and secure their long-term future growth via market diversification and a supporting cultural shift. Mercury3 employ 35 people with offices throughout the UK.

A Bachelor’s degree (2.1 or higher) in one of the following areas: Marketing, Business Management, Business Management & Leadership or Human Resource Management and Leadership (or similar). Preference will be given to an associate who also has a higher level professional or academic qualification in a related area e.g. Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma; CIPD; Strategic Marketing / Human Resource Management.
