Job description
The aim is to help Omega Sinto Foundry Machinery Limited (OSFML) to design and develop disruptive organic rankine cycle (ORC) technology to convert waste heat from foundry processes into electricity, improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions from high energy processes. Secondary aims are to transfer knowledge into the company to allow OSFML machinery to transition away from natural gas to hydrogen as a fuel.
Project description
This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) will look to disrupt the way that waste heat from foundry processes is recovered. The project will develop technology that can convert waste heat into electricity at a cost that is affordable to companies of all sizes, driving a modular practical solution to a difficult engineering problem. A secondary part of the project will consider the use of hydrogen as a fuel to replace natural gas for sand fluidisation.
About the business
