Job description

Through the KTP programme we wish to recruit a suitably qualified graduate to work in BLK BOX Fitness Ltd (Belfast) on a collaborative project with the Northern Ireland Technology Centre at Queen’s over 24 months.

This project will involve developing the end-to-end design and manufacturing processes for challenging products, e.g. innovative weightlifting barbell, gaining knowledge in High Value Manufacturing tools and techniques, advanced CNC machining, innovative joining technologies and process automation, allowing the company to innovate new products.

Project description

We wish to recruit a dynamic and motivated graduate to develop the end-to-end design and manufacturing processes for challenging products through the implementation of High Value Manufacturing & Industrial Digital Technologies and Industry 4.0 principles.

The KTP Associate will lead on the delivery of the following key project stages:
1. Review and analyse current design, estimated costs and assembly methods
2. Investigate HVM technologies and processes suitable for Barbell product, identifying associated costs
3. Material Selection
4. Review and develop BLK Box New Product development process.
5. Investigate and prepare business case for implementation of identified HVM technologies investment and establish baseline KPIs
6. Manufacturing Process Development
7. Investigate, design and develop testing procedures and test rig for barbell product range using BLK Box New Product development
process
8. Identify Process Automation opportunities
9. Assist BLK BOX Fitness in broadening product portfolio

Please note the start date for this role is flexible.

Hold, or be about to obtain in July 2021, at least a 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related course. Candidates must clearly state their qualifications and grade/predicted grade when making their application.
