The School of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Liverpool John Moores University in partnership with Beverston Engineering Ltd, are seeking to hire a Manufacturing Data Analyst (KTP Associate)

This will be a 24 month fixed term post based at the Beverston Engineering premises in Knowsley but employed by Liverpool John Moores University.

The salary will be £35,000, plus a £4,000 personal training budget to help your career, as well as management and leadership training provided as part of the KTP.

Beverston Engineering is a world class precision component manufacturer, specialising in the prototyping and manufacture of state of the art engineering components for a wide range of industries. These include aerospace, oil & gas and pharmaceutical industries where safety and accuracy is a critical requirement within component manufacture.

Beverston Engineering and Liverpool John Moores University have collaborated to run a Knowledge Transfer Partnerships project with the aim to develop new methodologies based on data mining of planning and real-time manufacturing data to forecast critical lead times, reduce cost, inform costing and pricing, and improve quality.

We are looking to appoint a graduate to run this project with the following capabilities:

Recent MSc/PhD degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
Experience developing script with Python, C++ or similar
Experience in processing, analysing and summarising large data sets using commercial software.
Experience in applying technical knowledge and skill to solve problems of a commercial nature.
Evidence independently managing development projects in either an academic or industrial environment.
Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.
Ability to work with staff at all levels.
Ideally you would also be able to demonstrate experience of the following:

Evidence of building regression models, and ideally trained (machine learning) models.
Experience programming cloud-based applications.
Evidence of component specification (solid modelling, technical drawings).
Specialist software competencies:
LabVIEW or MATLAB/Simulink for acquiring and processing data.
SPSS, Minitab or similar for numerical modelling.
SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360 or a similar CAD package. EdgeCAM, MasterCAM or similar.
