Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with a background in Engineering or a materials-related discipline to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate. This role will be focused on the development of a technical framework and the related testing for integrating Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate (IBAA) into concrete products to accelerate the development of the IBAA market in the UK. The work will create guidelines on the use of IBAA to build market trust via close industry engagement. This new knowledge will be embedded in Rock Solid by the Associate and will allow the strategic expansion of the company’s offerings of IBAA to existing and new customers.
The KTP Associate will lead the development of this project to drive the research required on the uses of IBAA in concrete. This will also involve the creation of guidelines on the use of IBAA informed by this research to build market trust and industry engagement to establish a new market for IBAA in the concrete construction market in the UK.
As a KTP Associate you will undertake a 28-month collaborative project between Rock Solid Processing Limited (Rock Solid) and the University of Dundee. The post will be a hybrid role with some homeworking combined with work at Rock Solid’s Scottish base at Goathill Quarry, Cowdenbeath. The post will also involve periods of laboratory work at the University of Dundee and at various sites across Scotland for field testing.
