This is to finish off a project currently underway applying change management principles and concepts to create a culture to transform leadership and management capabilities focusing on staff engagement and empowerment.
Project description
This new approach will underpin the development of a new internal
quality management culture and enable the application of total quality
management to the company manufacturing function to improve production
efficiency. In addition, the approach will enable proactive and value
generating supply-chain innovations to be achieved. The successful
candidate will receive part-time mentored support from an academic expert
in the Sheffield Business School. At the completion of this project there
may be the potential for a full-time position with the company.
Typical requirements for the candidate are;
• Awareness and experience of the tools and techniques associated with
change management and leadership.
• Understanding of the key features of a total quality management system
for manufacturing.
• Interest in the application of TQM to vehicle manufacturing
activities.
• Good interpersonal soft skills to implement the changes necessary to
achieve the programme objectives.
• Good commercial awareness sufficient to create complex cost benefit
analyses to justify investment
On completion of the project the expected outputs are:
• The emergence of a company culture of empowerment and employee
engagement
• Leadership and management approaches aligned with transformational
leadership (rather than transactional leadership)
• A significant increase in production and supply chain efficiency from
the current level of 45%
• An operational self managed TQM system for company manufacturing
management.
• Increased sales and profits due to increased competitiveness.
About the business

Equi-Trek Ltd is the UKs leading manufacturer of horseboxes and trailers with 65% of sales in the UK and 35% in European sales. They offer more than 30 models and recently have introduced a range of motor homes under the brand name of Moto-Trek. All current UK/European small horseboxes are built on a Peugeot chassis-cab and comply with 2005/41/EC and where appropriate with British Standard leisure vehicle habitation requirements such as BS EN 1646 and BS EN 1949. The company operates from a single site in Stocksbridge near Sheffield.
