This KTP associate role will be in collaboration with British Telecom (BT) and Ulster University.

BT intend to produce a novel cloud and edge computing platform for IoT applications. This will leverage leveraging cutting edge research produced through an existing research collaboration between Ulster University and BT, via the BT Ireland Innovation Center (BTIIC)

Within this project, an associate will integrate software artefacts produced by this cutting edge research into a single advanced Internet of Things (IoT) platform. This will involve liaising with postdoctoral researchers/academics within BTIIC, comprehending their innovations, adopting their developed software artefacts and integrating them into an existing IoT platform. In addition, it is expected that the associate achieves this though establishment of a modern Development Operations (DevOps) pipeline to enable continuous integration, continuous deployment, continuous testing and robust version control.

This is an exciting opportunity for an appointed associate to play a pivotal role within the development of a cutting-edge technological innovation in conjunction with a large multinational corporation.

An appointed associate will also develop valuable inter-personal skills through working with a wide variety of people. The Associate will be encouraged to join an appropriate professional body and will have the opportunity to undertake part-time postgraduate study through Ulster University.

The Associate will, inter alia:

* Review departmental processes and procedures.
* Investigate state of the art Internet of Things (IoT) platforms on the marketplace and current state-of-the-art in scientific research
* Engage with disparate BTIIC research streams to comprehend state of the art innovations which have been developed within
* Cyclically refine and integrate technical implementations of these innovations into an existing, advanced, IoT platform (Called MATRIX)
* Establish a modern DevOps pipeline to ease integration of these disparate innovations to the MATRIX platform.
* Produce training documentation to support adoption and product development within BT.

Although the post is administratively linked to Ulster University’s Jordanstown campus, the KTP Associate will be based at BT’s Company’s premises in Belfast.
