This KTP project will develop a pioneering web-based Automated Manufacturing Placement System (AMPS) for the current and next generation range of McCloskey International machines. The AMPS will provide vital resource for manufacturing decision making.

The appointed graduate (KTP Associate) will experience all parts of McCloskey’s business – working closely with three main sections of the company, namely Design (mechanical and electrical), Manufacture and Sales. The job will require on-site work as well as being office-based.

The appointed KTP Associate will develop considerable expertise in all aspects of project management, problem solving and what it takes to complete a project on time, in budget and profitably.

The KTP Associate will also develop valuable inter-personal skills through working with a wide variety of people. The Associate will be encouraged to join an appropriate professional body and will have the opportunity to undertake a part-time MSc through Ulster University.

The Associate will, inter alia:

* Work with the team at McCloskey International to develop an Automated Manufacturing Placement system
* Create System in a modern Object Oriented Language (e.g. C#, Java, Javascript, Python etc.)
* Develop suitable data analytics algorithms to process collated data relevant for manufacturing placement decision support.
* Develop software to relevant to the construction of an Automated Manufacturing Placement System (AMPS).
* Software Testing and systems stress testing
* Undertake web development
* Manage their time and project effectively
* Meet milestones as outlined in the agreed plan
* Write and present reports throughout the life of the project
* Present data and solution to key project stakeholders
* Travel to fulfil the duties of the post

Project description

This KTP project will be driven forward by the appointed KTP Associate to develop an Automated Manufacturing Placement System (AMPS) for the current and next generation range of McCloskey International machines. The AMPS will provide vital resource for manufacturing decision making.

Applicants should hold a Hons degree in Computing/Computer Engineering or a related discipline, at 2:1 or above. In addition, a higher degree in Computing or Computer Engineering or other relevant discipline (or be in the final stages of submission) would be desirable.

The Associate should have experience in software engineering with demonstratable skills in web based software application development. He/She should also possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and prove a willingness to learn and think creatively. Evidence of ability to undertake and complete significant projects is an important factor and knowledge of data analytics would be a bonus.

The appointment will be for a period of two years and although the post is administratively linked to the University, the Associate will be based at the Company’s premises in Coalisland. Successful completion of the KTP may lead to a new position within the company partner at the end of the project period.
