This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated graduate in Business Analytics, Digital Marketing, Data Science, Management or a similar discipline to work on a 24-month Management Knowledge Transfer Partnership (mKTP) between Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) and Robert Gordon University. The position is based at AGCC’s site in Aberdeen, where you will be responsible for developing and driving the adoption of a more data-centric approach to its business processes and operations. Through the mKTP, you will support AGCC to develop the skills and understanding necessary to extract intelligence from existing data (primarily managed through a CRM database), refine its forward data collection activities and help AGCC to enhance membership support activities. Through enhancing these areas, the project seeks to contribute to income growth for AGCC and across the wider Chambers network.
As a KTP Associate you will lead the project, to transfer knowledge of Data Analytics and Digital Marketing to AGCC. You will also engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders for the project to undertake research and innovation activities, including facilitating a series of diagnostic and development workshops using design thinking approaches to identify and prioritise opportunities and challenges for the project.
This is a full time, 24-month position, which also attracts a tax-free budget of £4,000 for training and development.

Project description

This project represents a valuable management focused research opportunity which encompasses the research interests of the academic team working within RGU’s two business schools, Creative and Cultural Business (CCB) and Aberdeen Business School (ABS). There are significant opportunities to better understand aspects of business analytics, digital transformation, evidence-based decision making and digital marketing for small and medium sized enterprises and the impact these aspects of management practice can have on an area of strategic importance for the future of regional and national economies. This MKTP presents an opportunity to apply research informed management methodologies to optimise business performance through digitisation involving technology-enabled organisational change and the adoption of new working practices within the AGCC team and the wider Chamber network.
You will need a strong understanding of the role data analytics can play in supporting business decision-making and will have experience of associated technologies and methodologies as you will be responsible for the management and analysis of data. You should have an understanding of digital marketing and the role that data and web analytics plays in both measurement and in informing strategy. Ideally this knowledge and experience would be evidenced through both qualifications in related areas and through professional experience. However, applicants who can demonstrate appropriate experience and understanding from either a professional or academic context will be considered.
You will need to balance technical skills with business knowledge. You should have a good knowledge of local business and a keen interest in economic matters, you should be committed to keeping up to date with news and developments in these areas. You will be interested in the application of design thinking and motivated to translate the value of the project to individual business units and stakeholders within AGCC. As you will be required to develop training materials, an understanding of training and staff development would be advantageous, as would the ability to create materials for marketing purposes. Excellent communication and time-management skills will also be required.

AGCC is a private sector economic development and business support organisation working alongside government at all levels, enterprise agencies and other partners to deliver placemaking and inclusive growth objectives but with no direct public sector funding towards these services.
